GREEN BAY, Wisc. -- New York Giants first-round pick Eli Apple and fellow cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie were declared out of Sunday night's game against the Green Bay Packers with groin injuries.
Both had been struggling the past two weeks with injuries. Apple previously had a hamstring injury. Rodgers-Cromartie was dealing with a groin problem.
After Rodgers-Cromartie was ruled out, he returned for a third-down play in the second quarter. He was limping badly, and did not return on the Giants' next defensive possession.
The loss of Apple and Rodgers-Cromartie leaves the Giants shorthanded in the secondary.
