The latest sign that Victor Cruz won’t be ready for Sunday’s season opener in Dallas: He sat out practice on Wednesday. As the Giants began preparing in earnest for their showdown with the rival Cowboys, Cruz, who has been nursing a left calf strain since the middle of August, was nowhere to be found. Cruz has not been ruled out for Sunday’s game, but he hasn’t practiced since the second week of the preseason.
And according to Tom Coughlin, there are no signs that he’s close to returning to the practice field anytime soon. “Nothing has come across my desk to indicate that,” Coughlin said.
