Prior to heading to Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine, Pat Shurmur attended to some business at home by hiring Everett Withers as the Giants’ new defensive backs coach.
Withers replaces Lou Anarumo, who left for Cincinnati to become the defensive coordinator on Zac Taylor’s first staff with the Bengals.
Withers, 55, has no previous experience with Shurmur but has a varied and extensive background as a coach. He was previously in the NFL as an assistant with the Saints and Titans and was a head coach in college at three different stops: James Madison, North Carolina and Texas State.
