EAST RUTHERFORD -- Eli Apple hasn't spoken to Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer in the fallout of the news that the Buckeyes head coach might have known about domestic abuse allegations levied by the wife of former assistant coach Zach Smith, but the Giants' cornerback has been thinking about what is unfolding in Columbus, Ohio.
"It's a crazy, unfortunate situation," Apple said, following Thursday's training camp practice. "I just hope it gets worked out."
The university placed Meyer on paid administrative leave while launching an investigation into whether he knew of Smith's actions and failed to act.
