Giants' Eli Apple a healthy scratch vs. Redskins

LANDOVER, Md. -- Among the notable New York Giants inactives for Thursday night's game against the Washington Redskins was a name that wasn't expected to be on the list without an injury: cornerback Eli Apple.

Apple was a first-round pick, No. 10 overall, by the Giants last year. He was a healthy scratch Thanksgiving for the second straight week.

The Giants said it was a "coach's decision."

Apple, 22, missed time last week to attend to a personal matter. He was deactivated with little time to prepare for the Kansas City Chiefs.
