Giants don’t show any fight in preseason loss to Bengals

CINCINNATI — Well, that was a train wreck of a preseason opener. On Friday night, the Giants starters barely even showed up to Paul Brown Stadium, putting together a listless performance in a preseason game that generated little positivity for a club coming off a 6-10 season.

Their first-team units were so bad that after the first quarter, the Giants trailed, 10-0, facing an even bigger first-period deficit than the Geno Smith-less Jets did a night earlier. And things only got worse as the night went on. They lost 23-10.

A Giants team already without star defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul saw touted safety Landon Collins, a second-round pick, leave the game early with a knee injury.
