Eli Manning’s 14-yard touchdown pass to Odell Beckham, Jr. helped the Giants tie the Panthers late in the fourth quarter and sent the MetLife Stadium crowd into a frenzy.
They should have known better.
The Giants’ defense has specialized this season in allowing crushing, late scoring drives to cost them games and Sunday was no different in a 38-35 loss to Carolina, as Cam Newton led the Panthers on a game-winning drive with ease.
“I don’t want to say I’m almost numb to it because … we’ve been here,” Prince Amukamara said of the latest — and perhaps fatal — blow to their playoff hopes.
