The Giants got a taste of the NFL’s new rule allowing challenges on pass interference penalties Thursday night and it was a sour experience.
Rookie cornerback Corey Ballentine broke up a deep pass from Davis Webb to Tim White midway through the third quarter, seemingly with excellent coverage. Jets coach Adam Gase challenged the no-call and, after a replay review, word came back that Ballentine had indeed committed a penalty, giving the Jets a 33-yard gain.
“Naked eye at game speed I thought it was a terrific play,’’ coach Pat Shurmur said. “When you slow it down, you see he grabbed his wrist.
