There's still time for the Giants to make a waiver claim, with the No. 2 priority in the NFL, and add a veteran or two before the regular season opener next Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but one of the most agonizing days for any coach or general manager is over.
"I think everybody understands the sheer math of things, 90 getting to 53, and I think that conversation is, at least for this phase of it, the last of a lot of conversations have been open and honest," Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said following Thursday night's preseason game against the Patriots.
