General manager Dave Gettleman placated some disgruntled New York Giants rooters, during the bye week and at the trade deadline, by releasing offensive linemen Ereck Flowers and Patrick Omameh. He also traded cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints and interior defensive lineman Damon Harrison to the Detroit Lions.
The team received a fourth-round selection from New Orleans, while Detroit sent a fifth-round pick to the G-Men. Both picks are for use in the 2019 NFL Draft, and the Lions’ draft selection was originally property of the San Francisco 49ers (No. 142 overall).
