Frank Gifford’s Hall of Fame football career: A timeline

Frank Gifford died at the age of 84 on Sunday. Here is a look back at his Hall of Fame career:

August 16, 1930: Born in Santa Monica, Calif.

1952: The Giants selected Gifford out of USC with their first pick - No. 11 overall - in the NFL Draft. He drew attention from professional scouts as a two-way threat with the Trojans, and earned All-American honors as a senior.

1953: Gifford appeared in “The All-American” alongside actor Tony Curtis.

1956: The Giants claimed a league championship as Gifford rushed for 819 yards and picked up 603 yards receiving.
