Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys closing in on massive deal with 24-hour hope

Maybe Ezekiel Elliott can play Sunday against the Giants after all.

There appears to be real progress being made in talks with the Cowboys, with ProFootballTalk reporting the two sides are “close” on a six-year, $90 million extension.

ESPN reports there’s “urgency” to get a deal done within 24 hours — as of about noon Tuesday — to get Elliott on the practice field Wednesday to prepare for Week 1.

Multiple reports said Elliott was leaving Cabo en route to Dallas in anticipation of a potential deal. The two-time Pro Bowl running back has been holding out all summer and training in Cabo as he awaits a new contract.
