A New York Times op-ed by the doctor who first found a link between head trauma in football players and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) prompted former Giants quarterback and current ESPN analyst Danny Kanell to declare there’s a “war on football.”
“The war on football is real. Not sure source but concussion alarmists are loving it. Liberal media loves it. Doesn’t matter. It’s real,” Kanell wrote on his Twitter account Tuesday morning.
The op-ed by Dr. Bennet Omalu — who is portrayed by Will Smith in the upcoming film “Concussion” — was entitled “Don’t Let Kids Play Football.
