Ex-Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell out of a job again as Redskins overhaul staff

EAST RUTHERFORD -- Former Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell will begin the offseason looking for a job for the second time in three years after the Washington Redskins released nearly their defensive coaching staff Thursday.

Fewell was fired Thursday by the Redskins along with defensive coordinator Joe Barry, defensive line coach Robb Akey and strength and conditioning coach Mike Clark.

According to Pro Football Talk, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden could consider further overhauling the coaching staff, even after Thursdays moves.

Under Fewell's watch, the Giants defense was inconsistent but the team did hoist the Lombardi Trophy following the 2011 season.
