Ex-Giant Tyler Sash had Seau-level CTE at just 27 years old

Questions surrounding the death of Tyler Sash, the safety who was part of the Giants’ Super Bowl XLVI winning team, may have been answered by the results of tests run by Boston University and the Concussion Legacy Foundation, according to a New York Times report.

Sash, a two-year veteran who died at age 27 from an accidental overdose of pain medication in September, was found to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after research conducted on his brain. The report states the disease had advanced to a stage rarely seen in someone his age.

“Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Tyler’s family and friends,” the Giants released in a statement Tuesday night.
