The Eagles have asked for permission to speak with Tom Coughlin about their head coaching vacancy and expect to meet with Coughlin on Monday, according to multiple reports and sources.
Coughlin, 69, said “not necessarily’’ last Tuesday when asked if his coaching fires had been extinguished and never once called his leaving the Giants a retirement. Coughlin last Monday walked in and told co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch he was resigning, with one year left on his contract, for the good of all concerned.
