Three games into the preseason, the contract the Giants gave veteran running back Jonathan Stewart is looking like a bigger and bigger mistake by the day.
Following Stewart's abysmal three carries for negative-seven yards in Friday night's 22-16 Giants victory over the Jets at MetLife Stadium, the 31-year-old has now accounted for 10 carries for a total of negative-five yards against the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Jets this summer.
Stewart also lost a fumble deep in the red zone against the Jets on Friday night.
At this point, it is fair to question Stewart's role in the backfield rotation, but Giants head coach Pat Shurmur isn't quite ready to give up on the veteran just yet.
