Giants linebackers coach Jim Herrmann was asked last week about the team's depth at middle linebacker. At the time, the big concern was Jameel McClain, who still wasout after suffering a bad stinger in his neck. Now, though, McClain is back and they have to play for the next few weeks without Jon Beason as their starter.
Herrmann said he thought he had a lot of options at middle linebacker if Beason wer to go down (which he in fact has). One intriguing possibility is Devon Kennard, the second-year player who looks to be blossoming on the outside.
