EAST RUTHERFORD -- Crisis averted.
The Giants found the Steelers were using deflated footballs during last Sunday's 24-14 loss in Pittsburgh, and they informed the NFL, a person with knowledge of the situation told NJ Advance Media on condition of anonymity. But the Giants never filed a formal grievance, and the league determined the Steelers did nothing wrong after reviewing the situation.
"The officiating game ball procedures were followed and there were no chain of command issues," the league said in a statement. "All footballs were in compliance and no formal complaint was filed by the Giants with our office.
