The Indianapolis Colts didn’t sign former disgraced New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones to a one-year, $14 million deal to sit behind Anthony Richardson. No, they signed Danny Dimes to come in and immediately challenge the 23-year-old for the starting QB spot.
The signing was relatively shocking. There were rumors that the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams were in play for his services as well, both perceived as ideal landing spots for the inconsistent Jones. But he took his talents to the Circle City instead, holding onto that last thread of starting hope.
Well, after some lukewarm comments from his head coach and some wild predictions he’ll be the starter once Week 1 kicks off, horses might just need to be held all the way back.
