NEW YORK -- Bruce Arians is a self-proclaimed student of the game and each offseason spends time scouting film of the top incoming rookies, even if the Arizona Cardinals aren't the owners of a premier selection in that year's NFL Draft.
However, all it took was putting a couple of Penn State games on television last fall to convince Arians that the Giants found a rare talent in running back Saquon Barkley with the No. 2 overall choice.
"I saw a few games on television and he piqued my interest," Arians told NJ Advance Media Tuesday at the NFL on CBS' season kickoff event in Manhattan.
