The winless 49ers have pulled off a stunning move right before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline and acquired Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, according to multiple reports. The Patriots will receive a second-round pick in return.
The 1-6 Giants will play the 0-8 49ers on Nov. 12 in Santa Clara, California. Assuming Garoppolo needs more than five days to learn the Niners' system, that game could end up being his first start for his new team. The Niners will host the 3-4 Cardinals this weekend, while the Giants will host the 5-2 Rams.
