REPORT: Jason Pierre-Paul Had His Finger Amputated After Fireworks Accident

The story of Jason Pierre Paul's fireworks accident over the 4th of July weekend took another turn on Wednesday, with a report that Pierre-Paul had to have a finger amputated following the mishap.

Via Adam Schefter of ESPN:

The Giants defensive end has been checked into in a South Florida hospital since Saturday night when he injured his hand in a aforementioned fireworks accident.

Originally, indications around the team had only suffered burns on three fingers and parts of both hands. However, it appears much more serious than that, with Pierre-Paul's status for the start of the 2015 regular season now completely up in the air.

Pierre-Paul has not yet signed his $14.8 million tender offer for the 2015 season and hoped to reach an agreement on a long-term deal by the July 15 deadline. That is likely out of the question at this juncture.

More on this story as it develops.
