Game-By-Game Prediction Of The Giants' Record For 2017

The New York Giants made the playoffs last season, but came up short in their Super Bowl bid. In 2017, they are determined to get back to the playoffs and win another Super Bowl. We got our first look at New York's road to the playoffs when the schedule was released yesterday. The Giants play in the tough NFC East, but many are expecting another playoff berth. Here's a game-by-game prediction of the Giants' schedule this year:

Week 1: at Dallas Cowboys
Prediction: LOSS (0-1)

New York swept the Cowboys last year, but I don't think they'll be able to accomplish that feat two years in a row. I expect these two quality teams to split their two contests this year, with the Giants falling in the opener in Dallas.

Week 2: vs. Detroit Lions
Prediction: WIN (1-1)

Detroit is hoping to compete for a playoff spot for another year, though I think they'll take a step back. Either way, the Giants are the more talented team and will win their hope opener.

Week 3: at Philadelphia Eagles
Prediction: WIN (2-1)

Carson Wentz is going to be really good. The Eagles are going to be really good. Key words there -- going to be. They still have several weaknesses, particularly defensively, that the Giants should be able to exploit.

Week 4: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Prediction: LOSS (2-2)

Tampa Bay looks like they're ready to have a breakout season this year and challenge for a playoff spot. I think they'll be looking to make a statement against another playoff-caliber team in the Giants.

Week 5: vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Prediction: WIN (3-2)

The Chargers don't have many offensive weapons and are rebuilding their defense. Eli Manning should have a field day against them.

Week 6: at Denver Broncos
Prediction: LOSS (3-3)
Week 7: vs. Seattle Seahawks
Prediction: WIN (4-3)

The Giants have a tough two-game stretch against the Broncos and Seahawks before the bye week, and I think they'll find a way to split these games. Denver's defense will be playing at a high level at home, which should lead them to a victory. New York's home game against Seattle is a toss up talent-wise, but the Seahawks really struggled on the road last season.

Week 8: BYE

Week 9: vs. Los Angeles Rams
Prediction: WIN (5-3)

Jared Goff. L.O.L.

Week 10: at San Francisco 49ers
Prediction: WIN (6-3)

San Francisco has a LONG way to go before they'll become anything resembling a good team. They will be one of the worst teams in the NFL again.

Week 11: vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Prediction: WIN (7-3)

Yes, the Chiefs are a really good team. However, Alex Smith really struggles against pressure, and New York is better than most at applying it. That will lead to a close home win.

Week 12: at Washington Redskins
Prediction: WIN (8-3)

Few teams took as big of a step back this offseason as the Redskins. They now have virtually no proven, reliable offensive weapons, and their defense was inconsistent last year. Win for the Giants.

Week 13: at Oakland Raiders
Prediction: LOSS (8-4)

The Raiders are one of the best and most complete teams in the league. After a long cross country trip, the Giants may be outclassed on the road.

Week 14: vs. Dallas Cowboys
Prediction: WIN (9-4)

Told you these two would split! The Giants owned Dak Prescott last year, and with almost a whole other season of tape on him, they'll devise a plan to stop him.

Week 15: vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Prediction: LOSS (9-5)

Philadelphia will improve as the season goes on, and they're talented enough to pull off a few upsets. This will be one of them.

Week 16: at Arizona Cardinals
Prediction: WIN (10-5)

Last year was the start of the end for this current core group of Cardinals. I think they'll struggle this year, allowing the Giants to pick up an easy win.

Week 17: vs. Washington Redskins
Prediction: WIN (11-5)

In the final game of the season, Washington will likely have nothing to play for, while the Giants will be fighting for playoff positioning. That will lead to a win for New York.
