New York FC play host to the L.A. Galaxy on Saturday (3 p.m., ESPN) in a matchup of two of MLS’ most star-studded and high-priced rosters.
After losing appeals Friday, NYCFC will be without suspended coach Patrick Vieira and defender Maxime Chanot. But NYCFC (10-8-7, 38 points) comes in atop the Eastern Conference, and will host a Galaxy squad that comes to Yankee Stadium for the first time and has the best goal differential in the entire league.
NYCFC captain David Villa’s 15 goals are tied for the league lead, while midfielder Frank Lampard faces off against his former England teammates Steven Gerrard and Ashley Cole, as well as the Galaxy’s attacking threats, Robbie Keane and Giovani dos Santos.
