The 2023 MLS Superdraft kicks off today at 5 pm ET, and while it’s not quite a buckle-up kind of event, the New York City FC faithful should keep an eye on which players the club will select. NYCFC have made some strong choices in the past, and it could very well be that a player selected today could find playing time next season.
Last year, NYCFC selected Kevin O’Toole, Kingsford Adjei, and El Mahdi Youssoufi, then went on to sign O’Toole and Youssoufi. Both featured regularly for NYCFC II, then O’Toole went on the start the final seven competitive games of 2022, and played important roles in the win over Atlas FC in the Campeones Cup, New Jersey Red Bulls in the Hudson River Derby, and Inter Miami in the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
