With January 14th gone and the first two rounds of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft (and NYCFC’s only selection) now behind us, the remainder of the transfer window and off-season come more into focus.
NYCFC traded the number four selection and some allocation money to the Chicago Fire for the rights to Wake Forest midfielder Jack Harrison. After an unsuccessful homegrown bid, NYCFC decided Harrison was absolutely their man and successfully set out to bring him to New York at whatever cost.
While he’s surely a talent to be admired and will play an impactful role moving forward for NYCFC, perhaps as early as this season, he was not the type of help many people expected the front office to target.
