It was a waterlogged day that featured a deluge of action at Yankee Stadium, but NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira was positively sunny about his team's performance.
"I was worried on the bench, to be honest," Vieira told reporters, "But the more the game was going the more comfortable I was. You could see the way the game was going, the way we passed the ball around, we were making the right decisions.
"We played really well and I really enjoyed watching the team play today."
Taking center stage in that impressive performance was David Villa, who banged home his 50th MLS goal for NYCFC from the penalty spot.
