New York City FC’s 5-0 win over FC Cincinnati on Saturday is sure to give supporters a boost in optimism. It’s exactly what the doctor ordered as far as reinvigorating the club and helping people forget the disaster that was the season opener against D.C. United the week prior.
Three NYCFC players have been singled out by Major League Soccer for having exceptional performances and deserving recognition. They are winger Jesus Medina, left back Gudi Thorarinsson, and goalkeeper Sean Johnson.
Medina — coming off of possibly his most complete season in an NYCFC kit — scored a brace, including a stunner from a super wide position late in the game to cap it off.
