NYCFC made two acquisitions in the third round of the MLS SuperDraft.
Chris Wingate was selected as the club’s tenth overall pick in the third round of the draft, while Michael Degraffenriedt was chosen as the 16th.
The Norwegian-born Wingate comes in from the University of New Hampshire.
A midfielder, Wingate played 19 games for his college in 2016, netting four goals and completing eight assists.
During the summer, Wingate was part of Seattle Sounders’ u23 team.
In 2015, Wingate was named the America East Midfielder of the Year, an All-Conference First Team selection and to the NSCAA All-East Region First Team after he scored six goals and racked up four assists.
