During the week, New York City FC suffered an awful loss to Inter Miami CF. The Pigeons were doing an okay job, but missed chances in the first half, and some intriguing choices by Pascal Jansen in the second ultimately led to the loss. Alas, the team cannot sit on the disaster since they have another quick turnaround. The Hudson River Derby is next, and this is now a must-win game.
NYCFC won the home fixture back in May, beating the New York Red Bulls 2-0. It was their revenge after the rivals beat them in the postseason last year, knocking them out of the MLS Cup Playoffs despite sweeping the 2024 regular season.
