Just hours after Patrick Vieira departed for France, New York City FC found his replacement.
NYCFC poached Manchester City assistant coach — and Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man — Domenec Torrent, who becomes the third coach in the team’s short history.
Torrent, 55, replace Vieira, who left NYCFC to join OGC Nice in Ligue 1 after spending the last two and half years in New York. Vieira’s departure was announced earlier Monday.
“I know we have a very talented team, I have watched many of the matches and I enjoy the way the team plays and I now can’t wait to begin working with the players on the training pitch,” the Catalan said in a release.
