Tonight New York City FC did something they haven’t done all season, close the game out. After coming out strong early in the second half, Patrick Vieira‘s boys will leave Washington with three points after Sunday night’s 2-0 win over D.C. United.
After a somewhat action-less first half by both clubs, NYCFC won the momentum battle in the second half. Just four minutes in, a beautiful build up was sparked by Khiry Shelton on the right side who found Thomas McNamara by the penalty spot. With great awareness, McNamara gave a nice little flick to the club captain David Villa who then belted the ball in the net.
