Patrick Vieira has worked for some of the greatest skippers in Europe, but doesn’t expect he will be anything like Arsene Wenger or Jose Mourinho as he takes charge of New York City FC’s second season.
“The most important thing for me here is to have an identity for the team … not to imitate another coach,” the former Arsenal captain and French international said at his official announcement on Wednesday.
The team trotted out its second manager in as many seasons. Vieira takes at the helm after Jason Kreis was shown the door at the end of the expansion club’s inconsistent and ultimately disappointing first season.
