NYCFC were unfortunate not to claim a victory against Toronto as they were denied in the final seconds of the match by a Victor Vasquez penalty. They instead settled for a tie, their fourth of the season.
The result may not derail NYCFC’s campaign for top spot by much, but the margin for error is incredibly slim in upcoming matches.
For the second time in two games, Vieira’s men dropped points late in the match. Had the score in the last ten minutes of each match stood, NYC would be only two points behind Wednesday’s opponents, and in position to leapfrog Chicago with a victory on Saturday.
