He arrived in Florida. He tagged along to Ecuador. He made it to Arizona. Today, rookie Kwame Awuah’s work has paid off: he’s the newest member of NYCFC.
The 21 year old Canadian arrived from the Connecticut Huskies as the sixteenth overall pick in January’s MLS SuperDraft. New York City had paid $75,000 in allocation funds to Seattle to buy back the pick, which they had forfeited as a condition of Kwadwo Poku’s sale last year (the Sounders had held the Slayin’ Ghanaian’s original MLS rights). Given the expenditure, it’s no great surprise that Awuah has found his way onto the senior roster.
