James Sands diagnosed with broken collarbone

James Sands just hasn’t had much luck recently. In New York City FC’s first game against FC Cincinnati back in June, the young defender had a stretch of phenomenal form come to a screeching halt after sustaining a broken bone in his arm.

The injury kept him out for a little over a month before returning on July 20 against the Columbus Crew. Since then, he has been playing with an atheltic cast while the arm injury fully heals. But the 19-year-old suffered another setback last night — once again against Cincinnati — when he made hard contact with Cincy’s Mathieu Deplagne.
