NJ/NY Gotham FC will begin the NWSL Playoffs on Sunday when the team takes on the Kansas City Current. The Bats have the unfortunate task of facing the NWSL Shield winners in the quarterfinals because they lost on Decision Day to the North Carolina Courage.
The Bats would still be on the road regardless of the result. However, the 3-2 loss shows how the ladies were close to earning a draw, and would have ended the season in sixth place. Alas, they scored too late to get that third goal. Instead, they finished the year in eighth place and have a mountain to climb if they want to make the semifinals.
