New York City FC's David Villa accomplished an MLS first in continuing to rate as the leader of the Audi Player Index.
Villa netted the first MLS hat trick by a player born in Spain in a win over the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.
Villa's hat trick was the second by a NYCFC player. The other was by Frank Lampard against the Colorado Rapids last season. It was Villa's first hat trick at the club level since 2010 when he had one against Valencia.
