Call it irony. Call it poetic. Whatever adjective you wish to use, it seems that David Villa is poised to return this Sunday against Toronto FC after being left completely off of this week’s injury report.
Since Domé Torrent has taken over at the helm, New York City FC have forged a handsome 5-2-1 (W-L-D) record. But all but one of those games have been done completely without the services of one David Villa, NYCFC’s captain and all-time leading goalscorer. Villa sustained a knee injury against none other than Toronto on June 24 in Torrent’s first game managing the club.
