As much as we have been satisified with the contributions from Ismael Tajouri-Shradi the past few weeks, New York City FC fans will be relieved to hear that David Villa — after missing two straight games due to injury — has rejoined the team on their road trip. This news comes ahead of NYCFC’s East-West clash against the San Jose Earthquakes this Saturday.
Though the aforementioned Tajouri-Shradi has done a fantastic job at carrying the goal-scoring workload in El Capitan’s absence, Villa’s reinsertion into the squad marks the return of a more clinical, bona fide goalscorer, something City will need desperately should they wish to continue leading the pack in both the Eastern Conference and MLS at large.
