It’s been a rough week for New York City FC. Coming off of two straight losses within one week — including their first at home — NYCFC seemed destined to continue down the path of sorrow against D.C. United this past Saturday after trailing the Black-and-Reds 1-0 late in the game.
The Boys in Blue, however, were able to salvage a point at home due to some heroics from none other than David Villa, who hit an absolute banger of a free kick in the 86th minute.
Villa’s late game heroics seem to have made an impression upon the powers that be at Major League Soccer and landed him a spot on the MLS Team of the Week, as well as the week’s leader in Audi Player Index points, whatever that means.
