Patrick Vieira has New York City FC atop the MLS standings with the best team in the league. But he could have a future managing one of the biggest teams in the world.
Outgoing Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said Vieira, a club icon, “has the potential” to succeed him as manager one day. That day could come sooner rather than later, with Wenger, 68, announcing on Friday that he’s stepping down at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail reported that Vieira is a “serious contender” to head back to the club he played for from 1996-2005, and the beleaguered Wenger affirmed as much on Thursday.
