NYCFC finally confirmed Alonso Martínez's ACL rupture and that he had surgury to repair the tear. Since he will be out for some time, NYCFC must bring in a new striker.

The break took place during the MLS Cup Playoffs, so the hope was that the Pigeons would not be influenced in any negative way.
