Wednesday night’s 1-0 preseason win against the Montreal Impact showed an early imprint of Patrick Vieira‘s philosophy on NYCFC. The new 4-3-3 formation has spread the field for players to make runs with the ball.
It was very evident from the start, Vieira wants to create space for his speed players and have the ball distributors like Andrea Pirlo, sit back and pick their targets. Early on, Tony Taylor showed good speed and possession down the left wing working good with David Villa to his right and Pirlo behind him in the middle.
