Tyrann Mathieu, Arizona Cardinals agree to 5-year deal, report says

Former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu and the Arizona Cardinals have agreed to a five-year contract worth about $12 million per year, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport.

The new deal will make Mathieu the highest paid safety in the NFL. Mathieu also played cornerback in his third season with Arizona.

Mathieu suffered a season-ending injury in Week 15 last season as the Cardinals advanced to the NFC Championship Game before losing to Carolina. Mathieu had 89 tackles, 16 passes defensed, five interceptions, 11 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
