So far, things are moving as expected for the New Orleans Saints in the wake of Drew Brees’ injury. Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Wednesday that Brees will undergo surgery in Los Angeles after receiving a second opinion in Houston earlier this week. Brees left the Saints’ game against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday after injuring his throwing hand in a collision with another player, which was later diagnosed as a torn ligament in his thumb.
Payton added that while Brees has yet to go under the knife, the plan is to keep him on the 53-man roster and not lose him to injured reserve.
