The NFL will see nearly 1,100 players hit the free agent market this weekend when all 32 teams go through their roster cuts, trimming down from 90 players to just 53. The New Orleans Saints will be among them, and Saints head coach Sean Payton anticipates some good players not making the cut. If he were running a different team, he’d be looking carefully at the Saints depth chart at safety.
“So, if I’m another team and I’m in need of a safety, I’m studying our safety depth because I feel like there’s probably three teams in the league that are deep at safety,” Payton said after practice on Tuesday.
