Saints' veterans demand more than mediocrity

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Safety Kenny Vaccaro said the "M" word after the New Orleans Saints found another way to lose a close game Sunday: "mediocrity."

As in, Vaccaro is worried that's starting to get contagious on a team that has now gone 7-9, 7-9 and 2-4 since the last time it was above .500 in 2013.

"I think more guys need to want to be great," Vaccaro told the New Orleans Advocate after Sunday's 27-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. "I feel like we need more of that. I feel like accepting mediocrity, being average, is starting to float around a little bit.
