They used to call them press conferences, now they’re media availabilities. Saints head coach Sean Payton typically does one after every practice and that continues through the season. Sometimes there’s not much new and sometimes there’s a lot to unpack. Payton’s media availability on Thursday, Aug. 2, was one of the latter.
A lot of the time it just depends on what kind of questions get asked. Payton doesn’t get into specifics on injuries and he gets visibly irked when reporters forget that or disregard that fact. Every once in a while he comes across a topic that really gets him to open up.
